The 2020 Assembly was hosted online on 12th October.
Nearly 100 people registered to worship together, hear the latest news from GMCT, and to reflect on a keynote address and workshops addressing the response of churches to the pandemic.
Roger Sutton, who leads Movement Day UK and GATHER (a national network of vibrant missional unity movements) gave the keynote address below. He spoke of the desperate need for churches to join in supporting our communities' recovery work and to express the spiritual unity we find together in Christ. He revealed ongoing plans for churches to set up Movement for Recovery, more details of which will be forthcoming soon.
We had some fantastic workshops, on homelessness (from Ian Rutherford, who is the Chair of Greater Manchester Homelessness Faith Network, and who works closely with Mayor Andy Burnham), the care sector (from Kate Le Sueur, who is the Head of Chaplaincy for MHA which provides care, accommodation and support to more than 18,500 older people across the UK), social/digital isolation (from Lawrence Moore, Mission and Discipleship Consultant) and how church congregations have adapted to the challenge of the pandemic (from Richard Anniss, Church Leader at King's Church Manchester, and leader of Training and Theology for Pioneer Network).
The videos below show the keynote address and the time of worship led by King's Church.
